Dry Flush
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take to get my orders?
Delivery times vary depending on where you are. On average, orders will take 3-5 business days to arrive. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email after your purchase.
How can I get more use out of a single cartridge/refill?
Use Pee Powder! Laveo™ by Dry-Flush Pee Powder is a non-toxic, biodegradable powder that turns liquids into a gel. It not only solidifies urine but it also deodorizes the urine which allows you to receive multiple uses before needing to “Flush”.
Where does the waste go?
Waste is automatically encapsulated during a “flush” and hidden in a lined container under the seat. When the cartridge is expended, lift up the toilet seat and the trim piece just under it. Lift out the liner bag containing wrapped waste. You will never see or smell waste at any time..
How many times can I use the Laveo before I have to replace the cartridge?
Our patented bagging system works using a cartridge that holds one mylar bag underneath the toilet seat that is more than 5 meters long. When you “flush” the toilet, the vacuum, the fan and the electric motor work together to wrap the waste and pull down a fresh bag from the 5 meter cartridge. There are about 15 “flushes” in each 5 meter long cartridge bag, but using pee-powder, many users get between 25 and 30 "uses" per 5 meter cartridge bag.
How do I know when the mylar bag is going to run out?
A red line appears on the inside of the bagging material that is in the bowl when it has about two more flushes. We recommend that you make the last use of the bag the one where you first see that red line and then change the cartridge.
What happens if temps drop below 0° C?
The absence of water makes the unit impervious to freezing temperatures. The battery remains operational in temperatures as low as -30°C (-20°F ), depending on the level of charge. Although waste may freeze, it does not cause any problems with operating the unit or disposal.
Where are orders delivered from?
Orders are delivered from our warehouses on the East Coast of Canada.
How is Dryflush odorless?
Laveo™ by Dry Flush uses remarkable refill cartridges that took over two years to develop. Its unique barrier material effectively isolates waste and eliminates any unpleasant odors. Once the toilet is flushed, the waste disappears entirely from sight and smell! The double-layered barrier bag ensures that all surfaces that come in contact with waste are safely disposed of, leaving no trace of any lingering odors associated with traditional water-dependant toilets.
Is it legal to dump human waste in landfills?
Yes! All landfills accept human waste to accommodate baby and adult diapers. Standard regulations require that waste be contained in plastic bags.
What about availability of refills?
From your toilet source or from Dry-flush.com. You can even call us directly at (203) 248-4440. We do ship directly from our manufacturing facility as well.
How long does the battery last?
The battery will last for several months, depending upon weather and for at least 300 flushes before charging is needed.
How do I clean the Laveo™ by Dry Flush?
Just wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. There is no holding tank to clean. All surfaces that contact waste are discarded when you change refills.
How much weight can the unit hold?
It has been tested to 500 lbs without appreciable deformation.
What is Pee Powder?
Laveo™ by Dry-Flush Pee Powder is a non-toxic, biodegradable powder that turns liquids into a gel. It not only solidifies urine but it also deodorizes the urine which allows you to receive multiple uses before needing to “Flush”.
Is the mylar bagging material biodegradable?
Not yet. We have been trialling biodegradable bags for some time, but as yet, none have been able to store the waste within the toilet long enough before disintegrating, nor have any been able to contain the smell. Clearly, both of these issues are critically important when it comes to hygienic sanitation. At this stage, this is the best system we have but we are constantly looking to get better and we remain committed to improving as technology advances.
Although not directly related to this question, you might find this comparison between the Laveo Dry Flush toilet and chemical toilets and bag toilets helpful.
Can I install this toilet in my shower area?
You can, but the Laveo is water resistant not waterproof. It must be covered with a garbage bag or some suitable waterproof cover
Ooops! Someone used the toilet before I had a chance to put in a cartridge – now what?
This is always a possibility, but don’t worry. No damage has been done. The receptacle that is normally lined with a plastic bag will just need to be emptied and cleaned.
